HOOPP's President & CEO

The President & CEO reports directly to HOOPP's Board of Trustees and is responsible for overall leadership and management of the organization.

The CEO is also responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing, in consultation with the Board, performance measurement programs, long-term strategies and annual work plans to ensure the organization meets the needs of Plan beneficiaries.

Jeff Wendling - President & Chief Executive Officer

Jeff Wendling became President and Chief Executive Officer of HOOPP on April 1, 2020.

He began his career at HOOPP in 1998 as a portfolio manager and in 2000 he was appointed to head up the organization’s Public Equity strategies. In 2012, Jeff became co-Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and in 2018 he was appointed CIO, a role he held until September 2021.

As a proven leader of a sophisticated investment management team, Jeff has successfully navigated HOOPP through a variety of challenging market environments. Jeff was also involved in developing its Liability Driven Investing approach. Coupled with solid investment results, this approach has allowed HOOPP to maintain its strong funded position, keeping Plan contribution rates stable while providing multiple benefit improvements to members.

Jeff earned his B.A. in Economics and his MBA from the University of Toronto, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Jeff has also served on the board of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG), and as the Chair of its Public Policy Committee.
