When you contribute to HOOPP, you immediately begin to build a pension that’s based on your employment earnings and your years in the Plan. The longer you contribute, the higher your pension.

HOOPP takes the privacy of its members and pensioners very seriously. When you enrol as a HOOPP member and at any other time HOOPP collects your personal information, rest assured that HOOPP does its very best to ensure your personal information is collected, used and disclosed only for the purpose of administering the Plan – primarily, administering your pension benefits and, after retirement, paying your pension.

Many HOOPP pensioners ask us if returning to work will somehow reduce their HOOPP benefits. The answer is no, and in fact, there is a way you can increase your HOOPP benefits.

When you leave a HOOPP employer, you may be able to collect HOOPP benefits when you retire, continue to build your benefits at another HOOPP employer, or transfer your benefits to another retirement savings plan. The options for vested members are different than those for non-vested employees.
