Celebrating excellence: Two HOOPP leaders earn top honours in investment management
At HOOPP, we know that delivering on our pension promise starts with the dedication and expertise of our people. Every member of our team plays an important role in building a stronger financial future for the healthcare community and we were proud to see that commitment recently recognized on a global stage.
In 2025, two of our senior investment management leaders were honoured by respected industry award organizations for their contributions to the investment community. These honours speak to the depth of talent at HOOPP and our continued commitment to managing your pension with care and expertise.
Lori Hall-Kimm, Senior Managing Director & Head of Global Private Equity, was named to Private Equity International’s 2025 Women of Influence in Private Markets list. This annual program highlights women making a significant mark in the alternative-assets industry. With more than two decades of global private equity experience, Lori joined HOOPP in 2022 and has played a key leadership role in advancing the Plan’s private equity strategy and long-term investment vision.
Beyond her role at HOOPP, Lori co-founded the UK-based non-profit Level 20, dedicated to supporting senior women in private equity. She is also a supporter of our Women in Asset Management program (in partnership with the Ivey Business School at Western University), which provides emerging female investment-leaders with opportunities including summer internships and mentorship programs.
Jennifer Shum, Senior Managing Director, Structured & Private Credit, was shortlisted as a finalist for the Institutional Connect Leader of the Year Award. This annual award recognizes industry trailblazers redefining the future of pension funds and investment management through outstanding leadership, innovation and collaboration. With more than 30 years of international investment experience and over 13 years at HOOPP, Jennifer has played a key role in building and shaping the credit platform into a robust, globally respected program. Her thoughtful leadership has ensured the portfolio remains diversified and resilient in a rapidly evolving market, supporting members’ retirement security with innovative credit strategies.
Outside of HOOPP, Jennifer is committed to developing the next generation of investment professionals. She frequently participates in industry events and mentorship activities that encourage young women to pursue careers in finance and broaden their exposure to asset management.
Investing to deliver on our pension promise
The leadership exemplified by Lori and Jennifer continues to strengthen HOOPP’s ability to deliver secure, lifetime pensions to members across Ontario. Their achievements highlight the depth of expertise and shared sense of purpose that drive our investment teams to make every decision with members’ retirement security in mind.
These recognitions not only honour their individual excellence but also reaffirm HOOPP’s commitment to helping Ontario’s healthcare community retire with confidence. Congratulations to Lori and Jennifer on these well-deserved recognitions.
