Supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community through allyship
At HOOPP, we truly believe in the value and importance of diversity, and we remain committed to providing a work environment where our employees can embrace and celebrate their differences every day. In June, HOOPP will once again be demonstrating this belief through our annual Pride Month celebrations.
This year, our Pride celebration theme will be on the importance of allyship. Being an ally is the active process of advocating, supporting and being an additional voice for people whose voices aren’t being heard clearly enough, including those in the LGBTQ2S+ community. Allies have a critical role in society and in creating inclusive and respectful workplace cultures.
In support of that, we will be offering employees a series of educational and engaging initiatives focusing on the important role allies play in creating safe spaces for their colleagues, friends and family members who are part of the LGBTQ2S+ community.
We are also taking our celebrations and education outside of HOOPP, as we are honoured to once again be collaborating with IT World Canada on the second annual LGBTQ2S+ Voices in IT conference. This exciting virtual event will celebrate and showcase the IT accomplishments of LGBTQ2S+ people, highlight new research and help participants build connections across Canada. This free virtual event is being held on June 21 and is open to anyone. We encourage you to register here.
