How to protect yourself online
Here are some general tips to help you protect yourself online:
- Create unique passwords and avoid reusing the same password across different accounts.
- If you hear one of your online services was breached, change that password immediately for all accounts, if used elsewhere, and do not use it in the future.
- Consider using passphrases (a random collection of common words with a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, as well as numbers and symbols substituting for characters) instead of passwords.
- Use multi-factor authentication, if available, for your accounts to provide an additional layer of protection. The most common way is by sending you a text message or email to verify it’s you.
- Remember to sign out of your account on any website or service once you’re finished.
- Be aware of phishing scams, such as suspicious emails, text messages or phone calls that attempt to access your personal information.
As technology evolves, so will we. HOOPP will continue to enhance our technologies and security to protect your information and deliver on our pension promise.
