The HOOPP real estate portfolio involves the investment in commercial (industrial, office and retail) and residential real estate to produce steady cash flow and the potential for capital appreciation.
These income streams have a high degree of reliability and can act as a good hedge against inflation. This makes real estate a good match for current income requirements and managing our members’ future retirement benefits.
Building a healthy future
We are a global leader in sustainable real estate practices with approximately 60 million square feet in real assets across more than 270 properties in Canada, the United States and Europe. We have been recognized for our commitment to environmental sustainability standards throughout our real estate portfolio and strive to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification on investments and developments.
Highlights from HOOPP’s real estate portfolio:
Key principles of our real estate investment strategies include:
Research
We conduct thorough research prior to acquiring assets. This enables us to hold well-located and well-leased properties that have the potential to generate stable and predictable income streams.
Diversification
We diversify the portfolio by geography, including seeking opportunities outside of Canada, and asset type (e.g., office, industrial, residential, etc.) so that the portfolio risk is diminished.
Longevity
When developing new or improving existing properties, we ensure healthy, efficient and high-performing buildings that preserve the environment, while delivering a quality experience to its tenants and long-term value for our members.
Innovation
We enhance the performance and quality of the portfolio through the development of new properties and the improvement of existing properties.
