I am excited for this opportunity to reach out to HOOPP members, including those of you who have retired and those of you who actively work in Ontario’s healthcare sector. It is an honour to have been selected as HOOPP’s new President & CEO and I want to begin my tenure by thanking each of you for the critical work that you have done and continue to do in support of our healthcare community.

In 1960, HOOPP was established to deliver the ‘pension promise’: a secure, lifetime pension for our members. Sixty-five years later, this promise continues to be the heart of our mission. HOOPP is one of the strongest and most successful pension plans in the world, having an exceptionally strong purpose, strength in its funded status and scale, and opportunities for continued growth. This is further demonstrated by HOOPP’s 2024 Annual Results.

Just as important as HOOPP’s past success, is its strong positioning for continued success. While the world around us evolves and the pace of change continues to accelerate, HOOPP will leverage its history, including organizational strengths, values and highly developed expertise, to continue to deliver on the promise to you. Our first and foremost priority will always be ensuring that you can count on your pension throughout your retirement.

Jeff Wendling, my predecessor, built an incredible legacy during his long tenure with HOOPP and his contributions produced tremendous value for our members. While Jeff has set a very high standard for HOOPP going forward, we are well positioned to take up the challenge.

I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve you as President and CEO of HOOPP. We will build on our strong foundation to deliver a strong financial future for you in retirement.
