Mr. Dale has been a HOOPP trustee since 2016 and has been an active member of the Board’s Plan Committee and the Human Resources and Compensation Committee. During his time as a trustee, he has worked to ensure that Ontario’s healthcare workers can feel secure in their retirement futures. In addition, Mr. Dale is a Senior Fellow at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.
“My main focus as Chair, working closely with Vice Chair Dan Anderson, is ensuring a smooth leadership transition from retiring CEO Jeff Wendling to our new CEO Annesley Wallace, and that HOOPP continues to adapt for the future and perform at a high level, while delivering on the pension promise,” said Mr. Dale.
Mr. Anderson has been a HOOPP trustee since 1993 and has been an active member of the Plan, Investment and Governance Committees. His tenure with HOOPP has coincided with a period of tremendous progress in the areas of governance, Board effectiveness and enterprise risk management. During his career, Mr. Anderson held multiple positions with the Ontario Nurses’ Association, including the role of Chief Negotiator, starting in 1971 until his retirement in 2017. Mr. Anderson has served on various Boards and spoken at conferences on pensions and labour relations.
HOOPP would also like to thank outgoing Board Vice Chair Gerry Rocchi for his dedicated service to the Plan and many years of leadership, including his time as Board Chair. Mr. Rocchi joined the Board of Trustees in 2017 and during his time on the Board he was also Chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee and the Governance Committee, as well as a member of the Asset-Liability Management Committee.
About the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan
HOOPP serves Ontario’s hospital and community-based healthcare sector, with more than 700 participating employers. Its membership includes nurses, medical technicians, food services staff, housekeeping staff, and many others who provide valued healthcare services. In total, HOOPP has 475,000 active, deferred and retired members.
HOOPP operates as a private independent trust, and its Board of Trustees governs the Plan and Fund, focusing on HOOPP’s mission to deliver on our pension promise. The Board is made up of appointees from the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and four unions: the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Ontario Public Service Employees' Union (OPSEU), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). This governance model provides representation from both employers and members in support of the long-term interests of the Plan.
