Benefits and Pensions Monitor (BPM) honours women annually in the pensions, benefits and investment space who have made significant contributions to their fields, while driving progress and breaking down barriers.
The women selected for the award are helping shape industry standards for the next generation of women leaders by prioritizing inclusivity, emphasizing mentorship and achieving extraordinary results for their organizations.
This year, HOOPP’s Head of Plan Services, Ivana Zanardo, was selected as one of the BPM Elite Women for 2025. Ivana has been with HOOPP since 2013 and has spent over 25 years in both private and public sectors, building her expertise in client services and pension benefit administration. Ivana’s work ensures HOOPP’s members fully understand the value of their pension plan, empowering them to make informed decisions about their retirement future.
As a thought leader, Ivana also works to promote HOOPP’s retirement research while advocating for increased retirement security for all Canadians. She has spoken at multiple conferences on the topic of plan administration, sharing her wealth of expertise with the broader pension community.
About the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan
HOOPP serves Ontario’s hospital and community-based healthcare sector, with more than 700 participating employers. Its membership includes nurses, eligible physicians, medical technicians, food services staff, housekeeping staff, and many others who provide valued healthcare services. In total, HOOPP has 475,000 active, deferred and retired members.
HOOPP operates as a private independent trust, and its Board of Trustees governs the Plan and Fund, focusing on HOOPP’s mission to deliver on our pension promise. The Board is made up of appointees from the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and four unions: the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Ontario Public Service Employees' Union (OPSEU), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). This governance model provides representation from both employers and members in support of the long-term interests of the Plan.
