Celebrating Pride at HOOPP…all year long
HOOPP proudly supports the LGBTQ2S+ community through a range of initiatives
At HOOPP, we are committed to supporting diversity and inclusion, and embrace everyone’s differences. We empower our employees to bring their whole selves to work and cultivate a workplace in which everyone feels respected and accepted. Diversity and inclusion also directly support our mission of delivering on our pension promise to our members. That is why we are proud to celebrate our members and employees who are a part of the LGBTQ2S+ community every day, especially during Pride month.
HOOPP initiatives supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community
HOOPP is committed to continuing our support of the LGBTQ2S+ community through a number of initiatives. In just the last year:
We created the Out and Proud Employee Resource Group, where employees from across our organization work to promote a safe and inclusive space for HOOPP’s LGBTQ2S+ employees through events and educational resources for all employees.
|
We introduced Workplace Gender Transition Guidelines with recommendations for individuals on how to navigate gender transitioning in the workplace, as well as best practices for HR, managers and colleagues on how to support individuals who are transitioning.
|
We partnered with The 519, a Toronto-based organization dedicated to advocacy for the inclusion of LGBTQ2S+ communities, to conduct a series of educational workshops for our employees, increasing awareness on issues within the community.
|
We began the process of becoming a partner of Pride at Work Canada, an organization that empowers employers to build workplaces that celebrate all employees regardless of gender expression, gender identity and sexual orientation.
|
Health benefits offered to HOOPP employees in the LGBTQ2S+ community
We are excited to announce that we have extended our benefits coverage for employees and their families to have access to Gender Affirmation Benefits, effective July 1, 2021. These benefits will help those who are transitioning genders embody their authentic selves through surgical procedures to affirm their gender. HOOPP is proud to be an inclusive employer and knows it makes our organization stronger, which is just one of the reasons that HOOPP is a great place to work.

HOOPP celebrates Pride 2021
This June, we will be celebrating Pride with a series of exciting virtual initiatives.
- We are honoured to be collaborating with IT World Canada on the LGBTQ2S+ Voices in IT event, Canada’s first event celebrating IT accomplishments from the LGBTQ2S+ community. This exciting virtual event is being held on June 23, and it is free of charge and open to anyone. We encourage you to register here.
- We will also be offering our employees many other educational and engaging activities that celebrate the diversity of HOOPP’s community, including a keynote session with Rainbow Railroad, member and employee features, and more.
- Check out our member feature on Jake Mossop, Registered Nurse (RN). We chat with Jake about being queer in the healthcare sector, Pride and the importance of a HOOPP pension.
Learn more about HOOPP’s Pride celebrations by following us on LinkedIn and Twitter.
We are dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community and ensuring that each of us can be our authentic self and live with pride, every day.
