We truly appreciate and are inspired by everything that healthcare workers and employers are doing during these unprecedented times. Through it all, our goal is to continue supporting your administrative needs, while providing our members with the peace
of mind that their pension is safe.
To do that, the Plan must remain strong. We were in an excellent financial position entering 2020, and with our disciplined investment approach, we are effectively weathering the economic storm that COVID-19 has created. We will continue taking the steps
that will further strengthen the Plan for both the short and long term.
In addition, despite significant changes to how we work, including shifting to a work-from-home model, we have remained focused on ensuring that we continue to service you and our members without interruption.
The following are some examples of the supportive steps we have taken during this period.
For members, we have implemented Plan and process measures to provide them with greater convenience and flexibility. These include giving members more time to contribute towards a leave of absence, to buy back service and to complete medical forms related
to the application of disability benefits. In addition, members needing to take an unpaid emergency leave will continue to grow their pension at no cost to them, or you as their employer.
We are sharing this and other related information through a COVID-19 information page. As well, we continue to engage and educate our members through ongoing pension seminars that have shifted from in-person events to a webcast format. From what members
are telling us, they appreciate the steps we have taken to support them.
For employers, we created this special information page and updated our Learning Centre, to provide regular updates and administrative information. We have also held information sessions to keep you informed and explain any administrative impacts related
to the temporary measures that are in place. Our Regional Managers and Employer Services Specialists are also talking to employers on a regular basis and supporting their day-to-day administration.
We recognize that this is an exceptionally challenging time, and our goal is to provide you with the service you need. Your feedback is an important part in making that happen, so I encourage you to continue sharing it to any of our team members that
