What’s your passion? Photography? Yoga? Learning a new language? After many years of focusing on your career, it might be the right time to pick up that hobby you’ve always wanted to try. It’s never too late! Why not take the time now to pursue a passion that you can take with you into your retirement years.

Here are some ideas to help you get started.

• Do it yourself: YouTube is do-it-yourself heaven. It is the place to go for free videos on everything from crafts and photography to gardening and painting. There are many other sites that specialize in learning. For instance, Duolingo is a website and app for learning languages, and CreativeLive offers videos about art, music and design. You can learn whatever you like at your own pace.

• Community centres and libraries: Maybe you’re interested in learning a new skill, such as, baking or even web design. Check out your local community centre or library for workshops and courses where you can learn something new and meet others with similar interests. Many organizations have programs especially for those who are ages 55 and up.

• Go back to school: Thinking about cooking school or learning a trade? Colleges and universities offer continuing education courses in the evenings, on weekends and online to fit your schedule. Tuition may be reduced or free, depending on your age, and some programs will let you audit a course to see if it’s what you’re looking for.
